With one quick blast, the sea began stirring. Suddenly, a whirlpool appeared and consumed everything in the surrounding area, including the party. When Ryu opened his eyes, he spied the face of a fish merchant. It seemed the party was stranded on a sandy and deserted island. Gobi, the fish merchant, was their only chance to escape this forbidden 'paradise'. Regardless of the outrageous price offered to him from Gobi, Ryu agreed to pay the price, in order to survive this small, yet annoying obstacle. Promising he'd be back, Gobi set off on his adventure to collect the Gills for Ryu and his friends. It seemed the survival of the party depended on yet another stranger- one who wasn't a fighter, but a merchant! Gobi eventually reached Prima, his hometown, and then traveled to Gant in order to collect the acclaimed goods there. Little did the fish merchant know that obtaining the Gills for the party would eventually lead he, and another character, into joining Ryu and his friends, in the struggle against the Dark Dragons.

Battle-Wise

Overall, luck is Gobi's master attribute. It isn't surprising, either, actually. He is a merchant afterall, and merchants do need a lot of luck to get good deals. Having him in battles may raise the chance, slightly, of the enemy dropping an item- since his luck is pretty high. His offense is fair at best, while his defense is around average. Though he has a suitable amount of HP, place him in the back row, in the third or fourth position, if possible. His agility is pretty low, though not as low as Ox's. Regardless, don't count on him to be able to heal a character BEFORE an enemy attacks, unless the enemy is a bit slow. He has four spells, each which can be used in underwater battles ONLY. He learns the most powerful of his spells pretty quick, allowing for serious damage to the enemy party during battles. If you like fish, Gobi is your guy. However, once you leave the underwater world, Gobi practically becomes useless, except for his role in fusing with Karn and Bo in order to obtain the form of Shin, a powerful warrior.
