Side Events- After Obtaining the Sphere

By Prima, have Gobi transform into a fish, and swim towards the Undersea Volcano. From there, cross the chasm and head far west. You should come across an island structure with a shore on its southern end (you may have to go far east and south in the middle of going east). Have Gobi turn back into a regular fish, and go up the shore.

World Map

You should see a town nearby. This is Tunlan, home of the musical people.

  • Tunlan has four main levels: the first level contains an Inn and Dragon Shrine; the second level has an item and weapon shop, an empty room, and a flea market where Gobi can set up shop; level three has one room where there is a woman that looks strikingly identical to Nina; and Tunlan Castle, which houses the Rod5, is on the fourth level. You should keep in mind of the person that looks like Nina, for she will come in handy. As for the Flea Market, it does not matter where Gobi sets up his shop; he has the same opportunities and offers at both Tunlan and Prima flea markets. The main highlight is to snatch the Rod5 from the castle, which can be tricky. When you're ready, head into Tunlan Castle.

    Tunlan Castle's Treasures

  • Rod5
  • Herb
  • Melon
  • You will be back here later, but for right now, you can only grab the Rod5. If you hadn't noticed already, almost everyone in Tunlan speaks a different language than you! Do not worry, you will be able to understand them soon enough. Follow the path north until you reach an old woman in a green cloak. She's blocking the staircase, so you can't go up from here. However, there is a staircase off to your right side if you look carefully. Take a detour to the east and follow the path up the staircase. Upstairs, go down the staircase you see. In the next area, you should find yourself on the left side of the castle. If you walk a bit west, you will find a statue of four gremlins and a couple of chests out in the open. Attempt to open the chest at the northwestern corner of the castle (the one left of the safe). Before you get a chance to open the chest, a hole will appear, and one of the gremlins will push you down the hole. You will land in an area with two men. If you talk to the old man, he'll give you some advice on catching big fish. Push the box crate south of the bed and search the area to obtain Rod5, the ultimate rod! Push the crate to the left, and you should fall down a hole. The area you drop into contains two chests which house a Herb and Melon. Walk south of the chests and go up the staircase to exit Tunlan.

    World Map

With the Rod5 in hand, there's nothing you cannot fish up! There are three well spots located throughout the world, and with Rod5 and a Worm2, you can fish up their treasures: southwest of Arad, by the sea, there's a well which contains the DragonHT, a powerful helmet for Ryu; the well northwest of Tantar contains the Slab, which gives a hint to finding something; and the most important of all, west of Romero to Karma, go north around the mountain by Karma and follow the sealine to find an out of the way well containing the powerful DragonSD. The DragonSD contains great power, however, the B. Rang is much more useful. I recommend using the DragonSD during boss battles, since there is usually only one enemy, and the B. Rang's usefulness is canceled out because of that. The main reason why you need the DragonSD is because it is a prerequisite in gaining access to the second Dragon Training Center! Wondering where it is? Go to Nabal Dungeon, and exit it out to the world map. On the world map, the Grimfowl Forest should be directly north of you. Instead of entering the forest, head west until you reach the sea, then head south. Follow the coastline until you come across a little seashell between some trees. This is the second Dragon Training Center!

    DTC's Treasures

  • Mrbl2
  • Like last time, enter the shrine and have Ryu talk to the old man blocking the way. Ryu will then be seperated from the party. Heal at the Dragon Fountain if you need to, and pick up the Mrbl2 from the chest. The Mrbl2 is just like the Mrbl1, except that it cannot be used in succession with dragon forms. Why Capcom decided to make such an item just like the Mrbl1 with restraints obtainable at only one place still eludes me. Anyway, when you're ready, talk to the spirit directly north of the old man to begin the trial session.

    Bain

Bain has a suitable defense and attack, so it is recommended to attacking using ThundrDR. Keep pounding at him and heal when necessary. Bain should easily go down.

    Four New Dragon Powers

After the battle, the dragon spirit gives Ryu four more dragon transformations. Three of them are more powerful types of the previous 3. The last one, GldDgn, is generally the strongest, but its attacks only inflict damage on the undead. Overall, you'll be using the BltDgn most of the time in fights. Well, it has been a long one, but you finally have accomplished something great. It is now time to head on over to Gust, to continue your journey.
